Banyan is now turning 40 and our team at Banyan Air Service looks forward to celebrating an array of events and developments with the aviation community, from classes and appreciation days to business expansions.
Events
Customer Appreciation Day: September 14, 10 a.m – 3 p.m.
The FBO looks forward to hosting customers at an open house to celebrate its milestone anniversary. The event will include tours, exhibits, demonstrations, static displays, family entertainment, and food and drinks. Click here to RSVP for this free event.
Annual Aviation Career Day: September 21, 11 a.m – 3 p.m.
The educational event sheds light on what South Florida flight schools, colleges and businesses have to offer to those as passionate about aviation as they are. The FBO anticipates 20 organizations to attend the event, including: the Air Force Association, Broward College, Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Civil Air Patrol, CTI, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Flight Center Flight Academy, Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport, Hop-a-Jet, LAL, Lynn University, Miami Flight Academy, Phoenix East Aviation, Piedmont, Presidential Aviation, Reva, Silver Lining Inflight Catering, Sky Eagle Aviation Academy, and The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. In addition to learning about flight training, maintenance and avionics, this year’s event will also include other aviation jobs, such as accounting, catering, air ambulance, law, aircraft management and charter services. Flight Simulator Class: October 12, 9 a.m – 2 p.m.
The following month, the Banyan Pilot Shop will host a flight simulator class. Topics will include installation, setup and configuration of X-PLANE 11 software; setting graphics, scenery, different views and using multiple monitors; mapping controls; loading aircraft, environments and a custom checklist; using X-PLANE for real-world concepts and procedures; and a brief overview of the software’s advanced capabilities. Check out more information here.
Commercial Drone Prep Class: October 26 – 27
Later in the month, the FBO will host a two-day commercial drone prep class at the Banyan Pilot Shop. The class helps prepare students for their remote pilot knowledge test—an FAA-required exam for drone pilots that plan to perform any kind of flight operation that could be tied to an economic benefit. Registration and information can be found here.
Developments
Banyan is also excited to share some upcoming developments with the aviation community. These include the Banyan/Sheltair Northside hangar complex at Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (KFXE)—an exclusive 180,000-square-foot hangar project to open in January 2020. In addition, a new paint facility will open in September 2019 and will be operated by Atlantic Jet Refinishing. Furthermore, the FBO is excited to share that it has obtained the approvals to move forward on an Opa-locka location, expanding its services into the Miami region. And as the city prepares to host pro-football’s big game in 2020, the Banyan team is preparing to handle traffic out of its FXE location, just 25 minutes from Hard Rock Stadium.
With a jam-packed road ahead of it, the team at Banyan clearly has no inclination of taking it easy in its 40th year. As every year before, the Banyan family continues to work hard and discover more ways to fulfill its community’s needs with an array of special offerings and exciting developments that continue the organization on its trajectory of growth.
